JOHANNESBURG…They say it’s the City of Gold…Egoli (try and pronounce that)!! It seems that most of the countries politicians are routed in this quick paced city. Even Nelson Mandela’s presence in Sandton Square reminds us of the struggle. My best South African experience has to be the depth of awareness of the people’s struggle for liberation, displayed at the Apartheid Museum. This cosmopolitan city is really buzzing…full of taxi’s, fancy cars and absolutely beautiful homes. I was fortunate to catch a Cricket match at the Wonderers Stadium. You cannot believe the patriotism and passion these people have for their country. One of my many highlights had to be the Soweto Tour and eating pap, wors (ha ha another try for the pronunciation) and tomato gravy...and lots of beer!! |
