Proposal in the Okavango Delta
When you think about the Okavango Delta, your first thoughts are remote safaris, meandering waterways and breathtaking sunsets. Botswana's Okavango Delta is teeming with game and wild African experiences that are only accessible by charter flights. The remoteness of the Delta makes you feel as if you are the only people on the planet... very romantic.
Above and beyond our expectations our trip to the Okavango Delta was just that - a romantic rendezvous surrounded by Mother Nature. With skies lit like diamonds, drinks flowing like rivers and food that looked like it escaped from magazine pages onto our plates, there was nothing that could top our safari getaway... or so we thought! We spent a total of 5 nights on safari in pure bliss... but on our last night, the camp seemed to vibrate with excitement. We headed out on a mokoro boat to view some elephants drinking water and playing in the mud. This is my favourite animal to watch, which completely elated my spirit. On our way back, the entire camp was candlelit and there were flowers sprinkled on the jetty. I assumed that because it was our last night, the camp was going further than their usual extra mile. All the staff was singing as we walked to the lodge and they placed a bush-inspired garland around my neck and a bright cloth around my body. When I turned around, Jason was on bended knee asking for my hand in marriage. That was the most special day of my life... my proposal in the Okavango Delta.
