Our Experience:
A honeymoon that will bring us back for many years to come
It was a year ago that we sent our wedding invitations out and got everybody on board with our SOUTH AFRICAN DESTINATION WEDDING DREAM. Everyone had saved like crazy to make our dream destination wedding a reality, and this afternoon, we all boarded the flight to Cape Town.
As a young girl, I dreamed of my perfect wedding day... under an African sky with stars so bright, it lit up my dress. My handsome groom and all our closest family and friends all seemed to glow in the moonlight, creating the most enchanting, magical moment of my life. This was the image I clutched onto during the flight to Cape Town, full of excitement.
We arrived in Cape Town and met our guide at the exit. Soon, we were on the road to our hotel. We had some traffic, but we were so filled with excitement that nobody seemed to mind. After settling into the hotel, we met our guide and headed up the mountain to Signal Hill for a sundowner drink, before going to Gold Restaurant for a delicious, fun-filled African theatre 14 dish dinner. One word to describe our experience... WOW!
The next two days, we spent touring the Cape with a full-day Cape Peninsula Tour and a full-day Winelands Tour.
Cape Town was amazing...
It was getting closer to our wedding... and wedding vibes seemed to set in. We arrived in Durban and were taken to our hotel in Umhlanga, where we were spending the night. We booked hair and mani/pedi treatments after a day of last-minute wedding shopping. We spent the entire day at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping Mall.
The final stretch came fast! Soon we were off to Zululand for our safari wedding. We arrived in time for lunch. We had planned "safari packs" room-drop surprises for our guests, with an arrival gift bag each, containing a matching wedding cap & Tee, sunscreen, lip balm, and a face spritzer. Everybody loved this! We went out on our first game drive.
Our big day was everything that we wanted and more... the setup was magical, the weather was amazing, the food divine, and the soul-shaking Zulu cultural dancing (a bonus treat for us). A dream wedding unfolded right before our eyes, and we knew then that Africa had captured our hearts!
We left Zululand reluctantly as the calls of normality nagged on. We spent our last night in Ballito to be close to the airport... and get some beach sand between our toes, before heading back to the real world. We will have another year preparing ard saving to return for our honeymoon!!
